To begin, we would like to define what exactly a compound wall is. Simply put, a compound wall is a type of protective wall that is constructed to separate two independent plots of land. The primary duty of a compound wall is to restrict trespassers from entering private premises. It is the first line of defence against external forces as it poses as a fortress.
The idea of a compound wall is cited as a Western import into our nation, especially during colonial British times. Incidentally, there were no compound walls in India during the past – where all the houses and buildings were open to the road, path, or the face in front. The spaces would be jointly occupied and used by the neighbours of the neighbourhood. Such absence of walls is still prevalent in many villages and rural areas even today, it has since then changed and has formed a type of demarcation procedure today.
Depending on the nature and components of the brick, there are two kinds of compound walls – one is the ‘traditional compound wall’ which is made out of clay, and the quality of which depends on the quality of plaster that is used. Traditional bricks are usually very expensive and consume a larger amount of time for completion at the rate of 60 metres a week for a 6 feet high wall. The other type of compound wall known as the ‘pre-stressed/precast compound wall’ is made from concrete and steel materials and is structurally sound and stable compared to traditional bricks and masonary work. It is also re-usable and the material can be shifted when required if handled properly, with almost 70% of material can be re-used. These are cost-effective and the traditional masonary compound wall work is almost 2.5 times expensive.
At Deccan Infrasolutions and Concrete LLP, we have undertaken different kinds of projects which have required the use of the precast compound wall, such as – St. Infant Pre-primary Classes at Shirgaon, VW & Skoda at Chakan MIDC, Progressive Infra at Chordia MIDC Shirwal , Turnkey project of RPPL Lonand MIDC and Kalbhor Constructions at Pimple Nilakh
As a dedicated team, we have made sure that the project has come to a fruitful completion keeping in mind every client’s specific needs. In the process, we have educated ourselves about different possible variations and have learnt valuable lessons through challenges faced during installations at various sites which have prepared us duly for all the upcoming projects.
